  • Dr. Lloyd Bond
    November 17, 1941-September 27, 2023
    Dr. Bond taught in the Department of Education Research Methodology from 1988-2002. He also provided groundbreaking technical work for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards for 30 years. His last full-time position prior to retirement was as a Senior Scholar at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching in Stanford, CA.

    Professor of Romance Languages from 1975-2014, Department Head from 1986-994, and recipient of the UNCG Senior Alumni Teaching Excellence Award. He was also the director of the UNCG Center for Creative Writing in the Art, editor of the International Poetry Review, and winner of the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Poetry.

    Walter moved to Greensboro in 1971 to be an assistant professor of English at UNCG. Awarded full professor in 1984, he served as the Chair of the English Department from 1988-1990, and the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences from 1990-2003.
