UNCG Association of Retired Faculty (ARF)
Ready to Proceed into Full-Operation

On Tuesday, 5/8/19/, ARF held its first official business meeting and election of officers and at large members in the newly furnished Faculty Center. Approximately 30 members were in attendance including Provost Dana Dunn and Dean John Kiss. During this dinner meeting certificates of appreciation were given to the Provost and Dean Kiss for their generous financial support that has been invaluable in getting this association established. The other five Deans, Celia Hooper, Randy Penfield, Peter Alexander, McRae Banks, and Robin Remsburg, who could not attend this event, were also given certificates of appreciation by ARF as a result of their financial support. The newly elected ARF officers are Susan Dennison (President), Betsy Lindsey (Vice President) Vicki McCready (Secretary), and Ken Caneva (Treasurer). The four at large members elected include Rob Cannon, Diane Gill, Eileen Kohlenberg, and Collette Edwards. In addition, Tim Johnston, at the invitation of the Provost, has agreed to serve as the university representative on the ARF Board. This meeting ended with a discussion of ideas to plan for the 2018/2019 academic year. Susan Dennison indicated that she will prepare a survey this summer to email out to the almost 60 ARF members to elicit their input on the types of activities that they would like ARF to sponsor or co-sponsor.
