Virtual program on Zoom from 1:00 am till 2:30 pm
The following two TED Talks will be shown, and a discussion will follow. We hope you will join us for this fun and stimulating event. *
“My failed mission to find God—and what I found instead” by Anjali Kumar. Born in the US and raised in the Jain tradition of her immigrant Indian parents, Anjali Kumar rejected that tradition without rejecting the idea that there must be a Divine aspect to the universe. Leaving no stone unturned—and no promising turn unstoned—she did not come to know God but discovered a universal human essence that took God’s place.
“The Boy Crisis, Shame and the Myth of Male Privilege” by Warren Farrell. In this talk, Dr. Farrell, the co-author of the 2018 book The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It, describes the effects on boys who are deprived of a Dad and the effects on those boys who are enriched by having a Dad. He questions why boys are doing all the mass shootings and suggests that we need to be paying more attention to the male experience of powerlessness as well as the male experience of female power. He concludes with recommendations for families with single moms and for schools with mostly female teachers.
